Air-Foam Floatation™ – Pressure Relief Without Compromise

VARILITE’s Air-Foam Floatation™ technology offers the benefits of both immersion and stability by combining air with anatomically zoned foam—eliminating the need for bulky air pumps or maintenance tools.

Multi-Zone Foam Layout:

• Soft foam for the sensitive ischial (IT) area
• Medium-density foam for the thigh troughs, pelvic bucket, and pre-ischial bar
• Firm foam around the outer perimeter and medial thigh separator for edge support

A coated, air-holding fabric is bonded to the foam, allowing air to be released via a valve as the user is immersed—automatically conforming to their body and distributing weight evenly.

Pressure Setting Valve (PSV) – Simple, Automatic Cushion Adjustment

The Evolution PSV features VARILITE’s revolutionary Pressure Setting Valve, designed to take the guesswork out of air adjustment.

How It Works:

• Three preset PSV positions provide optimal immersion ranges for most users
• A therapist selects the best setting and can mark a custom position if needed
• The user sits on a fully inflated cushion and opens the PSV to the set point
• The valve senses internal pressure and automatically closes once ideal immersion is achieved
• The user simply closes the PSV—no tools, no hassle, no over-deflation

Standard Valve Option

Prefer a manual setup? The Evolution is also available with a standard two-way air valve:

• While seated, the user opens the valve and slowly releases air
• Closes the valve when about ½ inch (13mm) of air and foam remain under the ITs
• This method allows custom immersion and stability, tailored to the user’s comfort
