Transforming shopping for special needs families

The GoTo Shop Trolley can help transform the lives of many special needs families around Australia

While many people take everyday tasks like heading to the supermarket for granted. For Natalie Roberts and her daughter Chiara, who lives with polymicrogyria, microcephaly and cerebral palsy, grocery shopping can be a particularly stressful event, made worse by the lack of access to appropriate trollies for children with disabilities.

She’s not alone with thousands of Australian families facing the same battle every week.

We want to transform this experience for families, so we’ve joined forces with Australia’s largest shopping trolley manufacturer, QHDC Australia, to make adapted GoTo Shop trolleys available at leading retailers across Australia.

The GoTo Shop is an adapted shopping trolley suitable for young kids with special needs who require postural support, head support and a secure five-point harness.

It’s open for easy transfers, has adjustable head and lateral support, a fully adjustable cushioned five-point harness and can be used with children up to a weight of 35kg.

Joining us as campaign ambassadors, Natalie and Chiara know all too well the challenges facing special needs families.

Chiara has had more than 250 appointments at the Royal Children’s Hospital and equipment like the GoTo Shop makes a huge difference to their family and their ability to do everyday tasks and connect with their community.

The GoTo Shop has been taking the stress out of shopping for families in the UK since 2014, with more than 2,500 GoTo Shops available in leading supermarkets across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island. A similar campaign is also being conducted in the United States.

You can help make a difference in the lives of thousands of Australian families by joining the cause. If you would like your local store to provide a GoTo Shop, please contact us or visit our website for more information.
